We are delighted to announce that Hannah Sydney, who fulfils a dual role as one of RAW’s Senior Scientists and a Health and Safety Advisor, has been short-listed for the HSM Rising Star Award at the Safety and Health Excellence Awards in Birmingham in April.

The award recognises individuals who have ‘made a significant contribution to the implementation or enhancement of health, safety or wellbeing standards’ despite having been in their post for less than two years.  Hannah’s recent overhaul of our project Health and Safety documentation has been widely welcomed by her colleagues across RAW as a user-friendly and manageable, yet effective and thorough approach to planning and controlling our varied site works and the hazards they present.

As a company who provides emergency response to spills of various contaminants including heating oil, slurry, chemicals and diesel, the hazards presented on site can be varied and complex. It is extremely important that the documentation system provided to our response and remediation teams allows them to accurately and thoroughly assess and record each individual situation and react accordingly, implementing suitable control measures to protect themselves and others.

Hannah, her colleague Patrick Leighton (who nominated Hannah for the award) and our Managing Director (Neil Stothert) join the other nominees and their colleagues for the gala dinner and award ceremony on 10th April and we wish Hannah every success! Watch this space!
